A geologist by training, I've always had a love for color, design, texture, and working with my hands. Geology plays a strong role in my jewelry through my use of natural gemstones. I strive to appreciate and celebrate the variety found in nature by choosing gemstones with character.

I like to describe my jewelry as "earthy elegance." I am drawn both to the earthiness of natural gemstones and to the elegant gleam of curving polished sterling silver. Although synthetic gemstones and dyed glass can be extremely beautiful, they do not hold the same allure for me as natural gemstones with all of their charming flaws.

Why "Lava Jewelry"? Well, it fits in with what I do. I love to study volcanoes, and many of my friends will tell you that there are few things in life I love better than red hot magma.

I studied jewelry-making at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco, CA, and metalsmithing at Mission College in Santa Clara, CA.

I work in my cat-friendly, smoke-free home and studio.

I live near San Jose, CA, and I like to use my weekends for hiking, camping, and photography.
