Turquoise and Sterling Silver Earrings - Abacus ::: Day 13

Turquoise and Sterling Silver Earrings - Abacus

Green and blue turquoise hieshi beads have been used to create these gorgeous earrings. I hand formed the frame and wrapped the gemstones with fine sterling silver wire. These could easily be dressed up or would look fantastic with blue jeans and a crisp white shirt.

The 'abacus' measures 1 1/2"x 5/8"(37x16mm.) and the total earrings measure 2 1/4"(53mm.) from the top of the ear wire.

More about Vanina...

My name is Vanina.I'm born and living in Vidin,Bulgaria , home of the medieval fortress "Baba Vida" and is the town's primary landmark. It consists of two fundamental walls and four towers and is said to be the only entirely preserved medieval castle in the country.

I graduated art school in drawing and applied arts.I started making jewelry 4 years ago as a hobby, but over time i became more passionate and serious about my art.

I'm inspired by the natural beauty of gemstones and I enjoy complementing them with beautiful wire work.

Birds on a Wire ::: Day 9

Bird Charm Earrings - Bird on a Wire

These earrings are SOLD but I thought they were so dang cute and wanted to post anyway!

From Sylvia's etsy "about me page"

I've always been an on-again, off-again crafter. I'd get involved in something, get all the stuff together, make some great stuff and some grand plans, then life would interfere and drag me away from my creative outlet.

This year, I really am determined to stay on track, continue to create and keep my creative juices flowing. Right now, I'm all into earrings - beaded earrings, paper earrings, trying some upcycled earrings (still in the testing stage). I'm just going to keep following my creative fancy wherever it leads me.

Iolite and Tanzanite Sterling Silver Wire Wrapped Earrings

Iolite and Tanzanite Sterling Silver Wire Wrapped Earrings s09e157
My shop can be found here: http://lavajewelry.etsy.com

A geologist by training, I've always had a love for color, design, texture, and working with my hands. Geology plays a strong role in my jewelry through my use of natural gemstones. I strive to appreciate and celebrate the variety found in nature by choosing gemstones with character.

I like to describe my jewelry as "earthy elegance." I am drawn both to the earthiness of natural gemstones and to the elegant gleam of curving polished sterling silver. Although synthetic gemstones and dyed glass can be extremely beautiful, they do not hold the same allure for me as natural gemstones with all of their charming flaws.

Why "Lava Jewelry"? Well, it fits in with what I do. I love to study volcanoes, and many of my friends will tell you that there are few things in life I love better than red hot magma.

I studied jewelry-making at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco, CA, and metalsmithing at Mission College in Santa Clara, CA.

I work in my cat-friendly, smoke-free home and studio.

I live near San Jose, CA, and I like to use my weekends for hiking, camping, and photography.
